CREP Wetlands
VARIOUS COUNTIES IN IOWA
WHKS provided design services to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) for various wetland projects in Iowa.
The wetlands were strategically located to remove nitrates from runoff in cropland areas. The designs were performed in accordance with NRCS design standards and included constructing an earthen embankment with a primary spillway consisting of a sheet pile weir. The designs also included an auxiliary spillway and water control structure. The embankments are classified as low hazard dams in the State of Iowa.
