Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements

HAYFIELD, MINNESOTA

WHKS provided services for improvements to the Hayfield Wastewater Treatment Facility that were identified in a 2011 facility evaluation.

This project was completed in the following phases:

Phase 1 upgraded the existing influent piping (approximately 1,500 L.F.) and flow measurement equipment, as well as replacing the existing effluent pumps and modifying the effluent wet well to accommodate the new pumps.

Phase 2 constructed a new Pretreatment Building to house a new mechanical screen with compactor and washer, a new grit removal system, and a new parshall flume with an electronic flow measurement device.

Phase 3 constructed a new influent lift station for the facility and replacement of the existing undersized primary clarifier with two new 30’ diameter circular clarifiers.

Phase 4 constructed a new ultraviolet disinfection system, chemical feed system for phosphorus removal, and biosolids storage tank along with replacement of the facility’s existing intermediate lift pumps, trickling filter media and distributors, final clarifier drive equipment, biosolids pumps, and heat exchanger.
