WHKS evaluated options for the facility to meet new phosphorus and nitrogen permit limits and evaluated the existing treatment equipment for age-related replacement needs. The report recommended conversion of the existing trickling filter treatment process to an activated sludge oxidation ditch treatment process to meet nutrient reduction requirements.
The proposed project will also include numerous upgrades to the solids handling system, including a new biosolids storage tank and a side-stream process for treating supernatant from the biosolids tankage.
