Water Distribution and Sanitary Sewer Collection System Modeling and Evaluation
Water Distribution and Sanitary Sewer Collection System Modeling and Evaluation
WAVERLY, IOWA
In 2010, WHKS developed a GIS-based water distribution model evaluating the existing water supply, storage capacity, and fire flow availability as well as sanitary sewer collection system capacity.
In 2019, WHKS updated the existing models to include improvements to the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems that have occurred since the system models were developed and prepared reports with cost estimates for potential projects.
The Water System Study Report evaluated the adequacy of the existing water supply, treatment, storage and distribution systems to meet the City’s current and future needs. The report identified deficiencies within the system and identified provisions for maintaining City-wide water service in the event of a failure of one or more wells.
The Sanitary Sewer Collection System Report evaluated current and anticipated future flows, sizing and hydraulic capacity of the collection system as well as prioritization of the improvements. The study included identification of known deficiencies within the existing lift stations and recommendations for a comprehensive inflow/infiltration evaluation.
