WHKS has a great opportunity available for a professional engineer with transportation design experience in the Illinois market. The candidate will use their knowledge and expertise in the design and management of transportation and related projects.

Responsibilities include:
- Layout, analysis and design of roadways and drainage systems of streets and highways for state, county, and municipal client in accordance with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) procedures.
- Preparation of plans and specifications for roadway and drainage projects using Bentley OPENROADS or GEOPAK.
- Prepare quantity calculations, geometric calculations, traffic analyses, Phase I Reports and other analyses and reports required by IDOT.
- Provide oversight and supervision to junior engineers engaged in roadway and drainage design, layout, and plan preparation.
- Provide oversight of CADD technicians to ensure work is done properly and accurately.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois or ability to obtain within 60 days
- 5 or more years of professional engineering experience on transportation projects.
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid understanding of Illinois DOT publications, particularly design manuals
