Civil Engineer Project Manager – Springfield, Illinois
WHKS has a great opportunity available for a Civil Engineer Project Manager to use their knowledge and skills in the design and management of municipal projects in Illinois and surrounding states. The successful candidate will be technically proficient, personable, and value a collaborative work environment focused on creating solutions for our clients and communities. Responsibilities include:
- Municipal utility, roadway, and site design, quantity estimates, and other engineering support functions
- Coordinate with engineers and technicians on a variety of challenging engineering tasks in a collaborative team environment
- Effectively communicate with clients to develop strong relationships, review project needs, and secure contracts
- Design and prepare documents for roadway construction, including typical/cross sections and plans for erosion and sediment control, maintenance and protection of traffic plans, storm water management, drainage design, signing and pavement marking, and right-of-way
- Perform other design-related tasks, such as quantity and geometric calculations, grading plans, and roadway, utility, and subdivision layout
- Develop 3-D models using GEOPAK or Civil 3D
- Provide oversight of CADD technicians to ensure work is done properly and accurately
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- Illinois P.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 8-15 years of experience in municipal or transportation design
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks at a time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, contractors, and peers
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience with Autocad Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
